The new rules also differentiate airline travel from non-airline travel. First, if you fly into any airport in New York you will be greeted by official personnel who will question you about where you travelled from and have you fill out a “traveler health form.” If you’re from one of the states on the list, such as New York, you will have to self-quarantine for 14 days. Second, if you enter New York by means other than air travel (such as cars and trains), you will need to fill out the “traveler health form” online. Lastly, if you fail to fill out the form or cooperate, you could be fined up to $2,000.00.
New York’s rules also has penalties that apply to its own state workers who might travel to one of the states on the list. Specifically, if you’re from New York and you are a New York state worker and you travel to Minnesota, you will have forfeited your right to New York’s paid sick leave provisions under its Covid-19 paid sick leave laws.
New York’s rules are very specific and carry substantial penalties so please be aware of its rules before you travel.
